My friend said to me while in mid-conversation that I am a "transcendentalist" I had never looked up the word and I guess I do have very similar values. This is what it means:
"Transcendentalists believe that society and its institutions—particularly organized religion and political parties—corrupt the purity of the individual. They have faith that people are at their best when truly "self-reliant" and independent."
The truth is, I love self-empowerment, it has changed my life AND I love and believe in community and benevolent governments as well. I believe that communities are strong when the people are self-empowered, self-aware and self-responsible as a result you build a strong community where you can help each other from a benevolent place and everyone feels dignified, valued and seen- this creates more within a culture and community. A community of people who know their worth and know their individual power, harmony, change, and support will pour out freely and all support will be capitalized on greatly. This is what sustainable change looks like.
